CalChamber Issues Statement on State’s Draft Climate Action Plan

The California Chamber of Commerce today issued the following statement in response to the release of the California Air Resources Board AB 32 Climate Change Scoping Plan:

“California is regarded both nationally and internationally as a leader in climate policy. The CalChamber prides itself on our member companies being part of the solution in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by leveraging the technological innovation in the state.

“We are still reviewing the details of the draft scoping plan released today, however, the plan appears to be narrowly focused on one technology rather than allowing for the flexibility of other available lower cost carbon options. We urge the continued consideration of cost containment solutions that prevent economic harm and cultivate an environment that allows California to thrive.

“The CalChamber supports climate change regulations that are cost-effective, technology-neutral, and promote the use of market-based strategies to reduce GHGs. We stand ready to work with the California Air Resources Board on this important policy.”

The California Chamber of Commerce (CalChamber) is the largest broad-based business advocate to government in California.  Membership represents one-quarter of the private sector jobs in California and includes firms of all sizes and companies from every industry within the state.  Leveraging our front-line knowledge of laws and regulations, we provide products and services to help businesses comply with both federal and state law.  CalChamber, a not-for-profit organization with roots dating to 1890, promotes international trade and investment in order to stimulate California’s economy and create jobs.  Please visit our website at www.calchamber.com
