CalChamber President Issues Statement on Departure of Governor’s Key Business Adviser

Following news that Lenny Mendonca, director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, will step down from his role as one of Governor Gavin Newsom’s key advisers, California Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Allan Zaremberg issued the following statement:

“Lenny is a friend to the business community and we appreciate the leadership, professionalism and integrity he demonstrated in his service to the Governor and to all Californians. He has been a stalwart and visionary advocate for California private enterprise with a clear understanding of what California employers need to succeed and how government can play an appropriate role. The CalChamber truly appreciates Lenny’s willingness to work with the us time and again, discussing critical issues important to the business community and listening to the concerns of our members. Importantly, Lenny had a real appreciation for the importance of international trade and its impact on California’s job climate and our economic future. As such, he regularly attended our international affairs briefings and events. Lenny was wonderful to work with and we will miss him personally and professionally. We wish him every success in the future and look forward to assisting the Governor’s office during the interim time and when his successor is named.”
