Council Seeks More Input on Two Sets of Proposed Regulations: Use of Criminal Background Information and Transgender Issues

The California Fair Employment and Housing Council (FEHC) is currently considering two different sets of proposed regulations.

  • The FEHC is proposing regulations related to the use of criminal history information in employment decisions that impose new burdens on employers.
  • The FEHC also is proposing regulations to specifically address protections for transgender persons, including restroom-related protections.

The council has made further modifications to both sets of proposed regulations and is seeking additional public comments. This is the third comment period for the criminal history regulations and the second comment period for the transgender regulations.

Visit the council’s website for more information, including the text of the proposed criminal background regulations and the text of the proposed regulations regarding transgender identity and expression.
