CalChamber Webinar to Break Down New PAGA Reform Requirements

Next Thursday, July 18, CalChamber’s employment law experts will explain in a live webinar the recent changes made to California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and will detail proactive steps employers can take now to limit future liability.

Enacted in 2004, PAGA provided individuals with the opportunity to file lawsuits in courts seeking penalties for Labor Code violations for themselves and all other aggrieved employees, opening the door for a substantial increase in litigation.

This new wave of litigation has cost businesses of all sizes billions of dollars without bringing much benefit to workers. As a result, on July 1, 2024, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a pair of bills that will bring a much-needed reform to PAGA. This reform aims to provide businesses the tools needed to reduce exposure, risk and damages related to wage and hour violations.
