CalChamber Issues Statement on Newsom Administration’s Proposed California Budget

(Jan. 9, 2026) Sacramento, CA – CalChamber today issued the following statement regarding Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed 2026-27 state budget:

“We applaud the Governor for proposing a balanced budget without new taxes, an acknowledgement that California’s economy isn’t in a position to bear the burdens that would be placed on job growth and overall affordability. While revenues from existing taxes appear to be higher than anticipated, both the Governor and the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office agree that California faces challenging economic times.”
