CalChamber President and CEO Jennifer Barrera today praised Governor Gavin Newsom for action to address California’s drought:
“Governor Newsom has shown tremendous leadership in addressing California’s growing water emergency in the face of climate change and its impact on the availability and reliability of our state’s water supply. Water is the lifeblood of the California economy and the Governor’s plan addresses critical issues that will improve reliability, mitigate future droughts and accommodate California’s continued growth and economic success. We greatly appreciate that the plan closely aligns with our recommendations to the administration as water-dependent manufacturers, producers, builders and consumers, as well as agricultural enterprises continue to face the devastating consequences of an ongoing water crisis. We look forward to further review of the plan and working alongside the administration to ensure that this important, ambitious but achievable water strategy is implemented in a way that benefits all sectors of California’s economy.”
