Romania is classified as a developing country with a high-income economy, having experienced rapid growth in the early 2000s. Romania is a member of the United Nations, NATO, and the European Union.
U.S.-Romania Trade
U.S. imports from Romania totaled $3.7 billion in 2022. Electrical equipment made up $525 million of the total, followed by primary metals at$515 million of the total, and computer and electronic products at $420 million of the total. Exports to Romania from the U.S. totaled $1.35 billion in 2022. Computer and electronic products made up $472 million of total imports, followed by transportation equipment at $259 million and non-electrical machinery at $141 million.
