Romania is located in Southeastern Europe and is the 12th largest country in Europe and the sixth most populous. Bucharest is the capital and largest city in the country. The Danube river flows through Europe and empties into Romania’s Danube Delta.
Romania is classified as a developing country with a high-income economy, having experienced rapid growth in the early 2000s. Romania is a member of the United Nations, NATO, and the European Union.
U.S.-Romania Trade
U.S. exports to Romania totaled $1.4 billion in 2021. Transportation equipment made up $641 million of the total, followed by computer and electronic products at 4236 million of the total, and non-electrical machinery at $104 million of the total. Imports from Romania to the U.S. totaled $2.9 billion in 2021. Computer and electronic products made up $413 million of total imports, followed by electrical equipment at $382 million, primary metals at $298 million, wood products at $287 million, and transportation equipment at $282 million.
California-Romania Trade
California exported $79 million worth of goods to Romania in 2021. Computer and electric products made up $27 million of total exports, followed by chemicals at $11 million, and agricultural products at $7 million. Transportation equipment made up another $7 million and non-electrical machinery made up $6 million.
