usa-georgia-ca-flagsGeorgia is a country located in Eastern Europe and Western Asia, bordered by the Black Sea to the West, Russia to the North and East, Turkey to the Southwest, Armenia to the South, and Azerbaijan to the Southeast. Georgia has a population of 3.67 million people and a GDP of $33.78 billion in 2024.

Georgia is a developing country and is classified as “very high” on the Human Development Index. Economic reforms since Georgia’s independence have led to higher levels of economic freedom and reductions in corruption, poverty, and unemployment.  Georgia is a member of the Council of Europe, Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, and other international organizations. Georgia applied to join the European Union in March of 2022.

U.S. – Georgia Trade

U.S. goods exports to Georgia totaled $1.74 billion in 2024, with two-way goods trade equaling $1.90 billion. The top export category was used or secondhand merchandise which accounted for $1.03 billion of all exports. Other top exports included transportation equipment ($418 million), processed foods ($71 million), computer and electronic products ($68 million), and chemicals ($36 million).

Goods imports from Georgia into the U.S. totaled $165 million in 2024. Top imports included primary metal manufactures ($103 million), beverage and tobacco products ($13 million), chemicals ($11 million), transportation equipment ($7 million), and processed foods ($6 million).

California exports to Georgia totaled $151 million in 2024. Top exports include used or secondhand merchandise ($84 million), transportation equipment ($31 million), agricultural products ($23 million), plastics and rubber products ($5 million), and non-electrical machinery ($2 million).

Imports from Georgia into California totaled $5 million in 2024. Primary imports were beverages and tobacco products ($2 million), processed foods ($1 million), apparel and accesories ($1 million), and chemicals and wood products at less than $1 million.
