Georgia is a country located in Eastern Europe and Western Asia, bordered by the Black Sea to the West, Russia to the North and East, Turkey to the Southwest, Armenia to the South, and Azerbaijan to the Southeast. Georgia has a population of 3.67 million people and a GDP of $33.78 billion in 2024.
Georgia is a developing country and is classified as “very high” on the Human Development Index. Economic reforms since Georgia’s independence have led to higher levels of economic freedom and reductions in corruption, poverty, and unemployment. Georgia is a member of the Council of Europe, Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, and other international organizations. Georgia applied to join the European Union in March of 2022.

The top export category was used or secondhand merchandise which accounted for $1.37 billion of all exports. Top exports include used or secondhand merchandise ($130 million), transportation equipment ($48 million), agricultural products ($43 million), non-electrical machinery ($1 million), and miscellaneous manufactures ($1 million).
Imports in goods from Georgia into California totaled $4 million in 2025. The primary imports were beverages and tobacco products ($863,000), wood products ($767,000), processed foods ($ 684,000), and apparel and accesories ($512,000).
