It’s not just about women finding a seat at the table anymore. Today, it’s about the value of what is being heard from their seat at the table.
The 2024 theme of Women’s History Month is women who advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion.
According to the National Women’s History Alliance, the theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions.
In the fifth largest economy in the world, California is leading the way with its first women’s leadership council within the CalChamber. It’s the state’s largest broad-based business advocate and I am a proud member of this unique group made up of female leaders from a variety of industries, generations, and backgrounds.
We are also led by the first female executive director of the CalChamber, Jennifer Barrera. By growing the impact of women leaders and women-owned businesses through addressing the challenges women entrepreneurs face, such as access to capital and barriers of entry, we hope to help strengthen the health of our state’s commerce and the value of women’s leadership.
