We look out for you so you can get on with business.
Keeping the needs and interests of California employers in mind, the CalChamber policy unit and legal affairs team, plus the public affairs staff, are working to make California a better place to live, work and do business. Over the years, we have defeated new tax initiatives, helped improve state infrastructure, battled rising health care costs and fought lawsuit abuse.
Our goal is three-fold:
- to promote the growth of California businesses;
- protect our private sector from excessive government mandates; and
- prepare the state for a prosperous future.
Issues
See the latest on key issues affecting your business and what the CalChamber is doing to fight for pro-business legislation. The CalChamber works to improve the jobs and business climate in California. Issue pages provide recent examples of CalChamber successes, with related resources, news, bills, action alerts, and policy staff contacts.
In addition to our active role in the state, the CalChamber works to promote business-friendly positions in international trade.
The Business Issues and Legislative Guide provides comprehensive overviews of our priorities and the data to support our positions.
Lobbying
The CalChamber legislative staff and member leaders work together through councils and policy committees to monitor, draft and review public policy. CalChamber-generated news and videos keep members and others informed of public policy issues having an impact on employers, the jobs climate and economy. See the major victories page for the results of our collective efforts.
Through the CalChamber’s issue-based coalitions, members have a vehicle for direct action. Each coalition is an opportunity for industry peers and concerned individuals to gain strength in numbers.
Impact California
Impact California action by affected individuals making their views known to members of the Legislature and other policymakers is extremely effective. We encourage letters, emails, personal calls and visits to your legislators. The Impact California Action Center keeps you updated on the latest priorities.
Inside the Capitol provides a weekly highlight with links to review hot items, and take action.
Legal Affairs
CalChamber Legal Affairs participates in major litigation affecting California employers and the economy, and files lawsuits and friend-of-the-court briefs on behalf of CalChamber members and key industries to emphasize the impact that judicial decisions would have on California’s economy.
Bill Positions
We actively follow federal and state legislation in a number of policy areas. The bill tracking page allows you to search for a bill by number or keyword, or categories such as topic, CalChamber position, Job Killers, Job Creators, and more.
