Trade Overview

The Republic of Turkey, now widely called by the Turkish pronunciation Türkiye, is a country situated at a crossroads of the Balkans, Caucasus, Middle East, and the Mediterranean. It is considered both a European and Asian country, with most of its territory in Asia.

U.S. – Türkiye Trade

Two-way trade in goods between the United States and Türkiye was $36.81 billion in 2025, with $20.40 billion in U.S. exports to Türkiye. Top exports include transportation equipment ($4.54 billion), oil and gas ($3.65 billion), chemicals ($3.36 billion), agricultural products ($1.62 billion), and waste and scrap ($1.30 billion).

Imports from Türkiye into the U.S. totaled $16.41 billion in 2025. Top imports into the United States from Türkiye include transportation equipment ($2.06 billion), processed foods ($1.61 billion), nonmetallic mineral products ($1.27 billion), fabricated metal products ($1.24 billion), and non-electrical machinery ($1.18 billion). Total services trade between Türkiye and the United States was $12.25 billion, with exports totaling $6.67 billion in 2025. Top exports included transport services, travel, maintenance & repair services, financial services, and other business services.

Imported services from Türkiye to the U.S. totaled $5.58 billion. Top imports were transport services, travel, other business services, telecommunications, computer, & information services, and government services.

California is the number three exporter of all 50 states to Türkiye. In 2025, California exported over $1.89 billion to Türkiye. Top exports included chemicals ($665 million), agricultural products ($592 million), computer and electronic products ($192 million), primary metals manufactures ($121 million), and transportation equipment ($92 million).

California imported $1.04 billion from Türkiye in 2025. Top imports were apparel and accessories ($175 million), processed foods ($144 million), transportation equipment ($140 million), nonmetallic mineral products ($101 million), and miscellaneous manufactures ($79 million). FDI – Türkiye

U.S. FDI in Türkiye in 2025 totaled $4.73 billion, while Turkish FDI in the U.S. was $2.63 billion. Turkish FDI supported 6,800 jobs, contributed $148 million in expanding U.S. exports, and $4 million in research and development.
