Disaster in Chile
The California Chamber of Commerce wishes to express its deepest sympathy to our partners in Chile during this difficult and terrible time. With the strength of their democracy, we are assured that Chile will confront this disaster with determination and rebuild to be even stronger.
The 2010 Trade Policy Agenda and 2009 Annual Report of the President of the United States on the Trade Agreements Program are submitted to the Congress pursuant to Section 163 of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended (19 U.S.C. 2213).
The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) is responsible for the preparation of this report, which was written by USTR staff. March 2010
Ambassador Kirk spoke at the National Press Club on Tuesday, March 9, re "The Trade Policy Agenda: American Jobs, Global Leadership". His remarks should be available Wednesday, March 10, at www.ustr.gov.

SB 657 (Steinberg; D-Sacramento) Human Trafficking
Mandates that “every retail seller and manufacturer doing business in this state” develop, maintain, and implement a policy addressing the eradication of slavery and human trafficking from their supply chain. The bill inappropriately makes California employers responsible for the actions of businesses with which they have no contractual relationship, are located in other countries, and could be engaged in activities that may best be handled on a diplomatic level.
