The event is designed to cultivate and strengthen East Bay EDA’s relationships with local Consulate offices and international business providers to ensure that opportunities for East Bay companies seeking foreign investment or trade/service abroad are maximized, and that East Bay companies are positioned for success. The event also demonstrates the depth of East Bay EDA’s capacity to provide direct business services, make connections, and identify business resources and opportunities to enhance international trade and investment for the business community.
Event Location/Time and Program Elements
The International Consulate Reception will be hosted on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Oakland Marriott Convention Center at 550 10th Street, Oakland, CA. Doors will open at 3:30 pm to allow attendees to check-in and briefly network before finding their reserved seating for the short program that will begin at 4:00 pm.
The program will include introductory remarks by the East Bay EDA Chair, welcoming remarks from the Mayor of Oakland, and recognition of the Consuls Generals and Consulate delegations/staff present. This will be followed by a brief address on international trade or investment from a keynote speaker. At the close of the keynote address, a raffle drawing will be held for airline tickets, courtesy of Southwest Airlines.
At approximately 5:30 pm, all attendees will then be escorted into the reception area for a two hour networking opportunity. There will be some sponsor expo tables in this space, as well as the possibility of a photo area with the three NBA championship trophies from the Golden State Warriors. Passed hors d’oeuvres and appetizer food stations will be available, as well as a hosted wine and beverage service.
This reception will enable attendees to access information to assist with trade and investment, and will maximize opportunities for business matchmaking and connections. The event will adjourn at approximately 7:30 pm.
