Trade Relations (PNTR)
The White House and Congress are encouraged to work together to ensure passage of this legislation-- as soon as this week.
It is anticipated that House consideration of Russia PNTR will be this Friday November 16,
with Senate action occurring the week
after Thanksgiving.
The U.S. House Ways and Means Committee and the U.S. Senate Finance Committee have passed Russia PNTR. It is vital to extend PNTR
with Russia this year.
There is strong bipartisan support for this measure, which will support U.S. exports, U.S. jobs
and the U.S. economy.
Thailand Plans to Join Pacific Trade Talks When Obama Visits
Thailand would become the 12th country to join negotiations in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Obama’s top trade priority. Southeast Asia’s second-biggest economy would be the fifth country in the talks that does not already have a free-trade agreement with the U.S., along with New Zealand, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam. EU trade chief calls on Mexico to reopen trade pact with Europe
Europe and Mexico need to go back to the negotiating table to rework their 12-year-old free-trade agreement to include services and agriculture, the European Union's top trade official said on Monday. CNBC.com, November 12, 2012

Wages, when adjusted for inflation, rose as a result of NAFTA in the countries that signed the free-trade agreement -- the United States, Mexico, and Canada -- according to a new paper by Yale economist Lorenzo Caliendo and Federal Reserve economist Fernando Parro.
