Last week, a group of states seeking to halt the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) overtime rule sought an emergency injunction asking a federal court to stop the rule before its December 1 effective date.
As previously reported, 21 states have joined forces claiming that the DOL overstepped its authority in enacting the rule.
A lawsuit also was filed by business groups that are challenging the rule, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers and National Federation of Independent Businesses.
Employers take note: Until there is a court ruling stopping enforcement, the federal overtime rules will take effect on December 1, 2016.
Advance preparation is essential, and employers should not stop preparations.
